We found a jewel of a vineyard, with a total of 527 vines, in a very cool spot of the Livermore Valley. Nestled between the Wente Golf Course and the Sparkling Cellars, the small yield was thought to be the perfect amount for a blending varietal with our wines. What we got however was a classic Cabernet Franc which demanded a separate release. We acquiesced and though we steal a small amount for blending, we decided to bottle the rest on its own. Due to the increasing demand for our Cabernet Franc, we searched out an additional vineyard in Livermore Valley and found the Ghilmetti Vineyard. We are now blending the two vineyards and are very pleased with the results. And, we now have more for you to enjoy!
A dark burgundy red color gives you the clue that this wine is going to be rich. Swiss chocolate mocha notes are supported by the deep fruit flavors of a hoisin plum sauce. Fresh turned earth and subtle black pepper add complexity. The palate gives you a pomegranate-plum reduction with dusty dry tannins, medium acidity and a sweet vanilla oak finish that is smooth and caressing.
