Our neighbors and friends, Jim and Ginger McGrail, own and care for this vineyard located across Greenville Rd and just up the hill from us. The fruit is sooo good that we have been making a barrel of wine for their personal consumption since 2002 and finally in 2004 were able to purchase a little for ourselves!
Opulence in a glass - bing cherry and black currents with a undertone of pencil lead and the sweet floral note of sterling rose. Toasty oak strikes just the right cord and is balanced by bright acidity and mouth-filling richness. The fine grape tannins make their presence known in the finish and indicate a wine with many years to come. (Consider decanting this wine into one of your most beautiful decanters as we left it unfined and unfiltered so as not to strip anything out of this powerful beauty.)
