Livermore Valley

The Raboli Vineyard was planted in the early 1900’s and purchased by Carlos and Pasquale Raboli (two brothers from Italy) in 1919. Wine made at their Livermore winery was delivered weekly to the coal-mining town of Tesla. Today we harvest grapes from this low yielding, dry farmed, head pruned vineyard to bring you a zinfandel with complex characteristics achieved only from true old vines.

Every year these vines surprise me. Like a sage from another time, their infinite wisdom produces a wine that differs from the young-uns. A purple wine with a roasted coffee nose complemented by berries, cacao and cracked black pepper. Fully dry with moderate acidity, the fresh berry finish is long and satisfying. A versatile wine that is just as ‘at home’ with a summer barbeque as it is on a blustery evening, by the glass, to take off the chill.
