The Raboli Vineyard was planted in the early 1900’s and purchased by Carlos and Pasquale Raboli (two brothers from Italy) in 1919. Wine made at their Livermore winery was delivered weekly to the coal-mining town of Tesla. Today we harvest grapes from this low-yielding, dry-farmed, head-pruned vineyard to bring you a Zinfandel with complex characteristics achieved only from true old vines.
This wine opens up to you with a fruit bowl of aromatics including fresh macerated berries and a whiff of white peach. Truly a multi-dimensional wine, the gnarled old vines give a unique complexity reminiscent of maple-cured bacon cooked over an open fire. In the mouth, the wine is chewy with toasty oak perfectly complementing the fruit flavors. Fresh, ripe, grape tannins are prevalent in the long finish.
