Petite Sirah has some of the thickest skins of all Vitis Vinifera grapes. This unique feature of PS grapes makes it possible to create a wine that is so dark purple that it is almost black. But hand in hand with color anthocyanins go grape tannins, so waiting to pick the fruit until these tannins are sufficiently ripe is the key to creating a wine that is ready to drink when the fruit is at its brightest.
Dripping with purple, berry-colored tears, this is a tooth-staining, intense beauty! Like olallieberries all wrapped up in dark chocolate, this wine is inky in both color and aroma. Floral greenery and toasted almonds keep it from being overly jammy and remind you this is an adult beverage. The fresh berry palate hovers above a deeper component reminiscent of a rich, aged balsamic. Moderate acidity is complemented by fine-grained tannins.
